Millions of new books are published every year, and reading is still one of the cheapest and easiest ways to learn new topics and information. I’m a firm believer that school is just the beginning of education. I love reading non-fiction books whilst knitting in the evenings. However when reading Principles by Ray Dalio *(links to Amazon) something happened to me that hasn’t happened before. Random phrases throughout the book triggered thoughts of new colourways for me to dye yarn. And this is just one of them. School doesn’t teach how money and the economy works. It just teaches you how to work for money. So if you’d like to know a little more I’d highly recommend watching the video created by Ray Dalio: How the Economic Machine Works. Oh and don’t forget to the buy the yarn too 😉

Woollard is my most basic yarn base. But also my favourite. Made of 100% Superwash Merino Wool it is my most go to base, and named in honour of my late Great Grandmother – Nanna Woolly – who was the eldest member of my family name I had the good fortune to know.

Made with high quality 100% Superwash Merino Wool from non-mulesing flocks, this yarn works up to most standard fingering/4ply weight knitting and crochet patterns. The merino is also one of the finer fibres of wool, which makes this an excellent all-rounder for everyday wear, but also provides exceptional comfort when worn next to the skin.

Wool itself has many benefits already. It is fire-resistant and will naturally extinguish a flame. It is breathable and naturally wicks moisture away from the skin, creating a temperature-regulating effect. Wool is a naturally renewable source, with sheep growing a new fleece to be shorn each year, as well as being biodegradable and compostable at the end of its life cycle, putting nutrients back into the ground. It is also resistant to odour, soiling, and water/spills, saving you the costs and time of regular washing. As a bonus the superwash treatment makes it ideal for a quick (but gentle) machine wash.
